What is the "Modified Bavarian Formula"?
German universities use a grading system ranging from 1.0 (Excellent) to 5.0 (Fail). To compare international degrees fairly, most German institutions (including uni-assist) use the Modified Bavarian Formula. This formula normalizes your home country's grading scale into the German 1.0–4.0 scale.
| German Grade | Meaning | Admission Chances |
|---|---|---|
| 1.0 - 1.5 | Sehr Gut (Excellent) | Very High - Top Public Unis |
| 1.6 - 2.5 | Gut (Good) | Strong - Most Public Unis |
| 2.6 - 3.5 | Befriedigend (Satisfactory) | Moderate - Private/FH Unis |
| 3.6 - 4.0 | Ausreichend (Sufficient) | Low - Private Unis Only |
